The #1 On-Line Marketing Tool is Free!

When was the last time you did a Google search for providers like you in your area to see how visible you are to potential clients?

Researching how to strengthen your on-line presence can be a trip down the rabbit hole, but two foundational practices can save you the trip: 1) maximizing your Google Business Pages and 2) positive on-line reviews.

Tip 1: Secure, Complete and Update Your Google My Business Page(s)

The single most important step you can take is — amazingly — absolutely free.

If you haven’t already, claim the Google business page for your location(s), then take the time to add as many details and photos as the form allows.

It’s worth checking in regularly to both update information and see what additional options have been added. At a minimum, keep your hours up-to-date and note any holiday hour adjustments.

Another reason to keep your Google My Business Pages as complete as possible is the near-constant tweaking Googles does to improve search results for users.

For instance, Google recently rolled out new search tools letting people search for providers that provide Medicare services or speak certain languages. Keeping your Google My Business listing up-to-date will be key to showing up in those searches.

Tip 2: Ask (and Ask Again) for Positive Reviews

Google reviews have evolved from a “nice to have” to a “must have” in just a few years.

A recent Press Ganey survey found that 59% of respondents had picked a provider in the past year based on on-line reviews. 84% of respondents would not consider a provider with fewer than 4 stars.

Before you think this only applies to Millennials and Gen Z-ers, know that searches by Baby Boomers increased 38% last year.

Even when someone receives a personal recommendation or professional referral, nearly 63% of people then check Google to learn more about a potential healthcare provider.

So ask. And ask again. Ask how you did today and if the answer is positive, ask for the review.
